Prepare a JPG for a 200 KB upload limit
This tool is for forms and workflows that ask for a JPG within a specified file-size limit. It starts at 200 KB and displays the exact byte count after processing. Original dimensions are preserved by default, so you can see whether quality adjustments alone are enough.
The target is a maximum rather than an exact padded output. A 186,000-byte file can be a valid result for a 200,000-byte cap. What matters is that the image stays within the requirement and still contains the details you need.
Check the unit before you upload
200 KB means 200,000 bytes in this preset. 200 KiB means 204,800 bytes. The tool supports an explicit unit choice so that these are not silently treated as the same limit. If the destination is unclear, a file below 200,000 bytes also falls below 200 KiB.
Byte size is separate from width and height. If the destination also asks for a photo size such as 3×4 cm, use the 3×4 photo tool and check its output dimensions. For a custom pixel requirement, use Resize photo.
Review quality and any dimension change
Lossy JPG compression can soften text, hair, fabric or edges. Use the output preview before downloading, especially when the image contains information someone needs to read. A strict size check cannot decide whether the visual quality is sufficient for your particular use.
If the file cannot fit while retaining its dimensions, the tool says so. You can permit smaller dimensions by changing the checkbox, or use a larger cap such as 500 KB when allowed. An already-compliant original JPG is kept unchanged, avoiding needless quality loss.
Questions, answered
Is 200 KB the same as 200 KiB?
No. 200 KB is 200,000 bytes; 200 KiB is 204,800 bytes. Select the unit used by your destination and check the result's byte count.
Does compression automatically crop my photo?
No. This compressor does not crop the image. Use the separate crop or photo-size tool when you want to change the framing.
Will every upload website accept the result?
No acceptance guarantee is possible. Check that site's current size, dimensions, format, background and content requirements as well as the byte limit.
